Introduction
We're excited to share the highlights from our recent National Massage Therapy Awareness Week celebration at RCC. This special event gave us a chance to dive deep into the world of massage therapy, exploring its rich history, numerous benefits, and the amazing people who make a difference every day. Let’s look back at what we shared throughout the week!
The Benefits of Massage Therapy
To start the week, we focused on the many benefits massage therapy offers. It’s not just about relaxation—massage can help relieve stress, boost circulation, and improve your overall health. At RCC, we’re passionate about teaching future therapists how to make these benefits a reality for their clients.
A Journey Through History
Next, we took a fascinating stroll through the history of massage therapy. From its beginnings in ancient Egypt and traditional Chinese medicine to its revival during the Renaissance, massage therapy has always been about promoting wellness and healing. This rich history reminds us of its enduring impact on health.
Spotlight on Preston Schaffer
One of the highlights was our spotlight on Preston Schaffer, a talented massage therapist and ultra-endurance athlete. Preston runs Massage Hero in Regina, SK, and seamlessly blends his love for running with his massage practice. His dedication to wellness both on and off the track is truly inspiring, showing just how multifaceted and impactful a career in massage therapy can be.
Advocacy for Massage Therapists
We also touched on an important issue: the advocacy to remove HST from massage therapy services in Ontario. Despite being crucial healthcare providers, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) still face tax hurdles. Supporting organizations like RMTAO is vital to help advance the profession and recognize massage therapy’s essential role in healthcare.
Celebrating Our Community
We celebrated the incredible community of over 23,000 RMTs across Canada. These professionals are committed to enhancing quality of life and promoting a holistic approach to health. We’re proud to train future RMTs at RCC who will continue to make significant contributions to the field.
Exploring Practice Settings
To close out the week, we highlighted different practice settings for RMTs in Ontario. From clinics and spas to sports facilities, there are countless opportunities to grow and shape your practice to match your interests and goals.
Conclusion
National Massage Therapy Awareness Week was a wonderful reminder of the power and importance of massage therapy. At RCC, we’re committed to educating the next generation of massage therapists who will help drive health and wellness forward. Join us on this exciting journey and become part of a vibrant community dedicated to healing!
